I live alone and don't hide anything. When I'm dead, I'll be dead and won't care.

But when I was a teenager living at home, I would save it all to some obscure folder inside of a program files folder that no one ever used or looked at, give it a fake name that vaguely sounded like a system file, then change its icon to something that looked like a system file.

Only problem with that is it's still a folder and so it can still technically be navigated to.

Another trick you can do is put all of the files into a .zip folder. Then rename the .zip folder to have the extension of a different file type like "icon.jpeg". This will force windows to change the file icon to extension type (jpeg) and when people click on it, windows won't know what to do with it because the file does not match the extension. They would have to know to change it back to .zip first. You can also password protect .zip files. The downside to this method is that you can't browse your files by thumbnail.

I would like to add that my Toshiba remote hard drive (if that's what it's called) is protected by Vera Crypt, you have to mount it, and enter a password to do so. Well, the password is hidden in plain sight on a music poster in my man cave, and NO ONE would ever guess that. I've been thinking that I should put a piece of tape on the drive and write "Broken, throw away" on it. Still, I usually leave the drive mounted and the laptop on, it's just the wife and me, and she has her own laptop.
